Rules and Regulations for Using the Library's
Wireless Service

The library's wireless hotspot gives you access to the Internet via your own personal laptop computer or handheld device. By logging-on, you agree to use The library's wireless hotspot in a responsible and ethical manner by:

The Colchester-East Hants Public Library does not monitor, and has no control over, the information accessed through the Internet, and cannot be held responsible for its content. The Internet and its resources may contain material of a controversial or mature nature. Remember that this is a public place used by people of diverse backgrounds and ages. Please be sensitive to their reactions to what you are viewing. There are information resources on the Internet that are inappropriate for viewing in a public setting. Library staff reserve the right to end wireless sessions when such material is displayed.

The library reserves to right to place limits on the duration of your wireless session and/or the amount of data exchanged between your machine and the Internet.

For Security Reasons, SMPT port 25 has been closed. You will not be able to send email using local clients such as: Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Pegasus Email, and so forth. You may send email via a web-based service like Hotmail (hotmail.com), or Yahoo! Mail (mail.yahoo.com).  Check with your Internet Service Provider to see if it provides a web-based interface to your email account.

As a user of the library’s wireless networks, you are responsible for any infringement of copyright or of software licenses that could result from the copying or distribution of any material from electronic media or from the Internet
