BABY, ME AND MOTHER GOOSE

Babies learn from the moment they are born, and some experts say even before that. What better way to bond with your new baby than to sing songs, play games, read and teach him/her rhymes. Here are a few of the rhymes, songs and books the library staff enjoys doing during their baby program. For more information about the baby program at your local branch, call your branch or visit the branch web site.

Grace and mom share a book at the Truro Library.

Share a rhyme with your little one any time at all ....

The Moon is Round

The moon is round         (Draw circle around child's face)
As round can be.
Two eyes, a nose          (Point to child's eyes, nose and mouth)
A mouth like me.

Little Cheek

Little cheek, little chin                    (Touch baby's cheek & chin)
Here is where the food comes in.     (Touch baby's mouth)
Little eyes, little nose                      (Touch baby's eyes & nose)
Now I'll kiss you're little toes.        (Kiss baby's toes)

Cheek Chin                   (A diaper change rhyme)

Cheek, chin, cheek, chin             (Touch baby as you say rhyme)
Cheek, chin, NOSE
Cheek, chin, cheek, chin
Cheek, chin, TOES.
Cheek, chin, cheek, chin
Cheek, chin, UP BABY GOES.
(Lift baby's bottom & slip diaper underneath)

Ring the Bell

Ring the bell                       (Pull baby's ear)
Knock at the door               (Tap baby's head)
Peek in                                (Lift up baby's shirt)
Lift up the latch,
And walk in.
Let's run down to the cellar   (Tickle down to tummy)
And eat apples.

Grandfather Clock

The grandfather clock goes           (Rock baby side to side)
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock
The kitchen clock goes                  (Rock faster)
Ticktock, ticktock, tick tock.
And Mommy's little watch goes      (Joggle faster)
ticka, ticka, ticka.

Rock Me Easy

Rock me easy, rock me slow,
Rock me where the robins go.
Rock the branch and rock the bough,
Rock the baby robins now.
Rock me up and rock me down,
Rock me off to sleepy town.
Rock me gently up the stairs,
To snuggle with my teddy bears.
Rock me easy, rock me slow,
Rock me where the robins go.
