Dear Friend of the Library,
The Colchester-East Hants Public Library Foundation’s 9th Annual Appeal is now
underway. Past support has enabled the library to purchase a variety of materials,
such as books, security systems, and televisions.
The proceeds from the 2011 campaign will be used to assist in the up-dating of the
library’s present collection of books. The library’s holdings are old. The standard
set by the Nova Scotia Provincial Library calls for 1 item per capita that is 5 years
old or less. The present collection is nearly 60 per cent short of that standard.
Further, the size of the library’s holdings of 152,261 items fails to reach the
standard for an average collection by almost 34,000 items.
Monetary donations in memory or in honour of someone special may be made at
any time and are most appreciated. An acknowledgement card will be sent to the
family of the honouree. Major donations and bequests can be designated for the
Foundation’s Endowment Fund which is intended for major projects.
