The Ada Mingo Memorial Teen Writing Awards

Thanks to the success over the past five years, we’ve decided to hold two contests – the poetry and prose contest and a graphic novel short story contest!

Teens can choose to enter both contests as long as the stories they submit are different from each other (so no submitting the same story to both contests!).

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

This writing contest for teens was created in 2007 in memory of Ada Mingo. She was a longtime resident of Truro and the proud owner of the Book Nook 1982-2006. She is remembered for her genuine, warm interest in all who visited her shop and for providing friendly service with a personal touch.

Who Can Enter?

Teens ages 13-15 and 16-19 with a valid CEHPL library card. Teens related to those judging the submissions in their age group are not eligable to enter.

Need a library card? Get one! It's free!

What Can We Win?

Each category and each age group have the following prizes:

Winning submissions will be published on the library Facebook and Teen Facebook accounts as well as the website. Winners of the Poetry and Prose contest will have their work published in a limited edition library newsletter.

All participants will receive a certificate.
