(teen friends of the library)
BLAST
provides teens with an
opportunity to explore a wide variety of interests and organize events
outside of a school setting. We offer a non-judgmental environment and serve as an advocate for youth by
encouraging teens to become active in the community, to ensure their voices are being heard.
Membership
Membership is open to students aged 13-19 / grades 7-12.
Meetings take place at the Truro Branch of the
Colchester-East Hants Public Library, 754 Prince Street.
For
more information, e-mail Chris Wildbore, Teen Programming Coordinator at cwildbor@nstc.library.ns.ca.
Volunteer Opportunities
BLAST members organize and participate in a variety of community activities
during the year, including Halloween and Holiday parties for children in
the library, and Bowl for Kids to raise money
for Big Brothers/ Big Sisters. Members also serve as teen advisors,
recommending books and CD's for the library to purchase. All library volunteer hours are recorded and certificates awarded in the spring.
