Media Lab and Makerspace

Calling all creators, inventors, tech-savvy people, and not so tech-savvy people. Use our Makerspaces and Media Lab to explore, learn, and make something great!

Visit our Media Lab offering equipment for producing podcasts, music, photography, and videos!

The John and Ann Gourley Media Lab provides our community members access to audio, photo, and video equipment for their digital projects. The Media Lab is located on the main floor of the Truro Library.

All patrons may use the Media Lab after they complete certification and an orientation in the Lab. The Lab will be available for 2-hour reservable time slots. Members 16+ may use the Lab unassisted, while anyone younger needs to be with an adult who has completed certification. Up to four people may be in the Lab at one time. The certified person who makes the reservation must be present in the room and assume responsibility for the group.

What is a Makerspace?

The idea behind makerspaces is simple: they are places where people can come together to learn about technology, crafts, and other kinds of making as well as share knowledge and skills with others, and to apply this knowledge and skill by creating things.

The Malcolm and Charlotte MacQuarrie Maker Lab is located on the main floor of the Truro Library.

If you have questions about any Maker equipment, services or programs, please email info@cehpubliclibrary.ca.
